The Diaspora Department handles matters related to mobilisation of the Uganda Diaspora for national development.
Key functions
- Strengthen engagement with Ugandans abroad and encourage participation in national development.
- Promote structures and regulatory arrangements that ease investment, financial and commercial transactions by the diaspora.
- Work with stakeholders on frameworks related to labour mobility and employment abroad.
- Promote incentives for diaspora skills and knowledge transfer.
- Provide a one-stop information and communication channel for the Uganda diaspora community.
- Support the maintenance of information on the identity, location and skills of Ugandans abroad.
